Six months after the earthquake, the people of Nepal are on their way to recovery. Here’s what WFP and its partners have been doing to help make it possible.
Nepal’s twin earthquakes hit mostly mountainous areas, which are hard to reach at the best of times. Together with its partners, WFP had to deploy its unique logistical expertise to provide food and shelter to two million people within the first six weeks following the disaster.
Helicopters, along with porters and mules, have been used to reach the unreachable, high in the Himalayas. Meanwhile, WFP engineers have been hard at work erecting tented clinics and opening vital mountain trails.
